Team of 5 Students from Computer Engineering department won 2nd Prize in the Smart India Hackathon and winning prize of 75000 INR. Another team of 8 Students from Computer Engineering Department won 2nd prize in State Level Hackathon 2018 and winning prize of 30000 INR.
MHRD sponsored GIAN short term course was organized at Computer Engineering Department of L. D. College of Engineering, Ahmedabad. This was the second consecutive time that a course from computer engineering department was sanctioned by the GIAN cell at IIT-Kharagpur. The inauguration took place on 06th February 2018 in the auspicious presence of foreign faculty, the Principal of the institute, local GIAN coordinator and course coordinator. The course content was designed by the foreign faculty which had to be covered in 14 theory sessions and 04 practice/hands on sessions. Dr. Arun Somani talked about basic concepts, reliability evaluation and redundancy management in morning session on day-1. The afternoon session contained issues in TMR design and consistency analysis followed by the case study and problem set-1. Dr. Somani discussed information redundancy in both the sessions on day-2 along with the case studies and problems. On day-3 he covered topics like software fault tolerance, check pointing, rollback recovery protocols and system level diagnosis followed by the case studies and problems. He talked about evaluation of systems and efficient protection architectures on day-4 in both sessions. He discussed examples and problems of RTOS during the case study session. Dr. Somani concluded the course by discussing RAKSHA and BTWC design on last day of course in the morning session. Valedictory function was organized after lunch break in the presence of the Principal of the institute. Dr. Arun K. Somani was felicitated with a token of memento by the Principal. Participants from research lab (ISRO), faculty members of other institutes and research students gave their feedback about the entire course during the function. Certificates were distributed to the participants of the course at the end of the function.
