In order to improve reliability, efficiency, reactive power management, and performance of the transmission line, different types of configurations are used such as shunt rector connected transmission line, Series capacitor connected transmission line, and combination of shunt reactor-series capacitor transmission line. Further, for successful implementation of above-mentioned configurations has been carried out using Flexible Alternating Current Transmission Systems (FACTS) devices. In order to spread awareness about “ FACTs devices used in Power system”, IEI students’ chapter, Department of Electrical Engineering of L. D. College of Engineering has organized an expert session from Field expert for undergraduate students on April 1st, 2022. The expert, Dr. Kalyan K. Sen is the Co-Founder/Chief Technology Officer of Sen Engineering Solutions, Inc. USA. Prior to this role, he worked for 33 years in academia and industry. He was a key member of the FACTS development team at Westinghouse Science & Technology Center.
Electrical Engineering Department, L D College of Engineering, Ahmedabad Inauguration of SPE (Society of Power Engineers) Students’ Chapter, EED,LDCE and expert talk on “Awareness of Energy Audit” was delivered by Er. Nikhil Shah, Secretary SPE, Ahmedabad. This event was held on March 22nd 2022. More than 70 students of under graduate and post graduate studies and faculty members have participated actively in this inaugural ceremony and attend expert talk.
In this era, engineers around the globe are trying to improve the performance and efficiency of many electro-mechanical systems. The performance and efficiency of the system can be improve by using automation using micro controllers which interfaces with its peripherals (sensors) and performed its function accurately. In order to understand the basic concept of automation, on 8/3/2022, our department has organized one-day workshop on “ A,B,C,D, about Arduino” under the aegis of IEI Students’ chapter, Department of Electrical engineering, L.D.C.E., Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.
Owing to inclusion of many private players in the field of power generation, Power trading is now carried out by most of them on Intraday Trading basis. It is “State of Art” concept for Indian power sector also. However, it is profusely exercised in Netherlands. They are doing intraday trading by using different algorithms, load forecasting techniques and weather forecasting. In order to spread awareness about “ Electricity Markets and Trading” IEI students’ chapter, Department of Electrical Engineering of L. D. College of Engineering organized an online expert session from Field expert for undergraduate students on March 4th, 2022. 84 nos. of students of under graduate studies and few faculty members have participated actively in this webinar.
Electrical Engineering Department, L D College of Engineering, Ahmedabad organized an expert talk on “Climate change & Sustainable Energy” and Inauguration of IEI Students’ Chapter, EED,LDCE. This event was held on January 29th 2022. Students of under graduate and post graduate studies and faculty members have participated actively in this webinar. At starting, Welcome Address was given by Er. D.O.Nakrani, Hon.secretary, IEI, GSC, Ahmedabad. Thereafter, Objective and background of webinar on theme “Climate Change & Sustainable Energy” was delivered by By Prof. (Dr.) J.R.Iyer, Professor and Head of Department, EED, LDCE. Later on Inauguration function of IEI students’chapter was carried out and motive of IEI students chapter had been explained by Guest of Honor Prof. (Dr.) D.J.Shah, Director, Technical Courses, Sankalchand Patel University & Principal, Sankalchand Patel College of Engineering, Visnagar. Thereafter, different aspects and benefits of IEI students chapter were discussed by Dr. S. M. Ali, Director (Membership), IEI, Kolkata After that Er. Mukund Mavalankar had conducted his expert session on said topic. He insisted on utilization of renewable energy sources instead of conventional (coal based) energy sources. Further, he promoted the profuse utilization of solar power at domestic and industrial levels. At last, Sh. Vijaybhai Solanki Deputy Director, WMF, IEI, Ahmedabad,had appreciated all the guests, speakers and students and faculty members to attend this event. Vote of thanks was given by Sh. D.O.Nakrani bhai from IEI chapter, Gujarat state, and Sh. Manaswini Joshi, student co-originator IEI students’chapter, EED, LDCE.
Electrical Engineering Department, L D College of Engineering, Ahmedabad organized a workshop Titled ”Energy Literacy Training” by Dr. Chetan Singh Solanki, Professor, IIT Bombay, brand ambassador of Solar Energy for Govt. of MP, and Founder, Energy Swaraj Foundation. This event was held under IEI students’ chapter EED, LDCE, Ahmedabad. In order to pass on the instruction regarding this online workshop, a seminar was held on Jan 30th 2022 considering all the SoP due to the pandemic. Students of under graduate studies and faculty members have participated actively in this webinar.
This meet was organized with the aim of strengthening the industry - institute linkage and come up with ideas for bridging the gap between the two. The bilateral working between industry and academia improves the efficiency and productivity of academic delivery
