The seventh edition of India Rubber Meet (IRM 2024) will be held in Guwahati on February 23. The theme this year is ‘Natural Rubber — Changing Landscape, Emerging Trends and Insights for Tomorrow’.
The One-day Symposium organized by the Rubber Technology Department under the IEI Rubber Student Chapter on January 8, 2024, focused on the theme "Understanding GST: Indian Taxation System." Approximately 50 students actively participated in the event, engaging in informative sessions that aimed to enhance their understanding of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) framework in India. To further reinforce the learning experience, a relevant quiz was organized post-symposium, with recognition given to the top three performers. This initiative not only provided valuable insights into the complexities of the Indian taxation system but also fostered a spirit of intellectual engagement among the participating students.

Rubber Technology Department organized Orientation of BIS club and Standard writing competition of Bureau of Indian Standard Club on 21st December 2023 coordinated by Prof. Bhakti Patel. Students of 5th and 3rd Semester participated in the event. Expert talk was given by Mr. Abhishek (Asst. Director) from BIS-Ahmedabad. He, addressed the attendees, emphasizing the pivotal role of standards in ensuring the quality and safety of the products in their respective fields. The orientation session provided an overview of the club’s activities, its mission, and the benefits of the active participation. Following the orientation, the spotlight shifted to the much anticipated Standard writing competition. Students of SEM 3 and 5 showcased their knowledge, creativity and understanding of industry standards while writing standards. Four distinguished ranks were awarded to the outstanding student’s team. The winners were presented the cash prizes as a token of appreciation. Certificates were given to the all students who attended the event. Students of Sem 3rd and 5th won total cash prize of Rs 2500/- in the BIS Standard writing competition.
