    A seminar on “Revolutionary Developments and challenges in Fuel and Chemical Industry” by Dr. Asit Das, Head, Refinery R&D and Process Development at Reliance Industries, Jamnagar.
    A seminar on “Revolutionary Developments and challenges in Fuel and Chemical Industry” was organized by the Chemical Department on 23rd Feb, 2018. The key speaker was Dr. Asit Das, Head, Refinery R&D and Process Development at Reliance Industries, Jamnagar. Dr. Asit Das has completed his PhD in Chemical Engg from Ghent University, Belgium. He is an authority in reaction engineering and catalyst development especially in petroleum and petrochemical processing. Dr. Das discussed the various aspects of petroleum industry and the challenges which the industry is facing. He also emphasized about the future pathway of Indian petroleum and petrochemical industry and discussed the implication of Shell gas in global petroleum industry. He also encouraged the budding engineers to take up research as a career. The seminar garnered a lot of applause from the students and faculties. The faculties had a special discussion with him afterwards with a focus on research  areas in the field of reaction engineering and catalysis. He was accompanied by Dr. Praveen Chintala, General Manager at Reliance Industries Limited who also shared his expertise and enlightened the students about the needs of the industry.

    An expert lecture on "Unleash the unlimited power of mind" by Mr. Dinesh Dasani
    An expert lecture on "Unleash the unlimited power of mind" was arranged on 19-02-2018 for the 6th and 8th semester students of the department. Speaker of the lecture was Mr Dinesh Jasani. He talked about various key notes like working of the mind, thought processing, subconscious mind, how to use it, how it can benefit etc. Mr Jasani cited few examples about how our mind responds to the thoughts and also said that mind cannot differentiate between good or bad thought. He encouraged students to always have positive thoughts so 
     subconscious mind can think in positive way. Repetitive thought process helps to make that thought to become real, as per Mr Dasani. He discussed about few tricks by which students can utilize their power of mind. He also asked students to use their power of thoughts as creative power. He said that power of subconscious mind can help students for their future life and stated numerous other benefits of the same.

    Expert lecture titled "Recent advances in safety and hazards management in chemical engineering field and 
     ndustries" was organized by the chemical engineering department on 17-02-2018 for the students of the department. Mr MN Vyas, Ex officio of IPCL, delivered the lecture. Major audience was the students of the 6th  semester as the content was a part of their subject-Pollution control health management. Mr Vyas explained about the safety and its importance in any industry. He also discussed about the various measures of safety, accidents and its prevention, industrial hazards etc. He talked about the recent advances in safety and how these techniques.

    An expert lecture was delivered by Mr Bharat Jain on the topic of "Challenges and Opportunities in the field of Engineering in UK and USA". The lecture was arranged for all the students of the department. In his lecture, Mr Jain talked about various challenges faced in UK and USA, as an engineering field. Mr Jain compared the engineering aspects in various countries as job opportunity. In detail, he explained the current scenario of technical field in India, US and UK and enlightened the opportunities. He discussed about the various opportunities as well. He also focused on converting problems into opportunities. He advised students, how they can deal with challenges using their skills and make use of the challenges as new opportunities for learning and sustaining the environment. He also explained the variations of rules in UK and USA. He also talked about the skills and experience that can benefit the students.

  • Industrial visit to Sweety Industries,Nadiad


    Industrial visit to Sweety Industries,Nadiad
    An industrial visit was organized for second and third year students at M/s Sweety Industries, Nadiad who are contract manufacturers of Parle biscuits. The plant is located at Nadiad. The plant manufacturers various type of biscuits which are well known brands like Parle glucose biscuit, Parle cream biscuits, Parle Bourbon etc. The student got exposure in various unit operation like mixing, dough preparation, controlled heating and cooling, packaging line etc. The student also got an overview about how the intellectual property rights are maintained in this type of industry. Overall, the production unit benefited the students providing them practical exposure in a biscuit manufacturing food industry. Prof. S. M. Dutta, Prof. R. R. Patel & Prof. V. V. Gojiya coordinated the visit.

    Invitation of Nomination for Gujarat State Cleaner Production Award -2016-2017
    Nominations are invited for the Gujarat State Cleaner Production Award -2016-2017 from small,medium and large scale industries of Gujarat.The award will be given to one of the best among these  industries particularly from the angle of adoption and successful implementation of Cleaner Production and showing exemplary work in form of water and energy conservation, waste water and solid waste reduction  during financial year 2016-2017.
    
    The awardees would be selected by the committee  constituted  by the state government . The winning industry will get Trophy ,cash prize and certificate . The first runner up will get cash prize and certificate and the winning industry will  be eligible to get one year additional concent from GPCB.

    Orientation Programme for 1st year students was organised in room no 005 on 03/08/2017. 53 students along with their parents participated in the programme. Guest of Honour for the event was Shri J. K. Vyas, alumni of LDCE and Head, IPP Group, CEE-Ahmedabad who encouraged the students with inspiring words.
