ME 3rd Semester Students, Rutvik Savani and Vishal Kuril presented papers in the reputed National Level event CHEMCON-2021 at Bhubaneswar, India held on 26-30th December,2021.
One week Faculty Development Program on "Research for Sustainable Progress" was organized by Department of Chemical Engineering L D College of Engineering, Ahmadabad, during 16th December to 22nd December 2021 in virtual mode. This training program was approved by AICTE and was sponsored by ISTE. Major objective of this program was to expose the participants in the field of recent technological development. More than 50 faculties from various technical institutions across India have participated in this program. The inauguration was held on 16th of December 2021 in presence of Shri Ashish Soparkar, Meghamani Organics Ltd as Chief Guest and Dr Sachin Parikh, Joint Director, DTE as Guest of Honor and Paton of the event, Dr Rajul Gajjar. All appreciated the motto of program and emphasized on the need to recent developments in the field of Chemical engineering and allied branches. The program highlighted the technological developments in the field of chemical engineering and its effective implementation in industry. Recent research trends and innovations in chemical engineering and allied fields with a focus on overall sustainable development were addressed in the program. All the sessions were very useful and informative. Newer or thirst research areas of recent and future time were brought in light. Experts were from premier academic institutes and R&D organizations and they talked about recent research developments in their fields of expertise. Special sessions on stress management (Art of Living) and NEP – 2020 were also organized in view of present pandemic and academic scenario.
An expert lecture by Prof. S. B. Thakore, Associate Professor, Chemical Engineering Department was organized for students of BE 3rd sem and ME 1st sem n the topic of "Advanced Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics". Around 45 students participated in the expert talk.
Prof. R. P. Bhatt, Assitant Professor of chemical engineering department, successfully completed her PhD on "Studies in Vapour Liquid Equilibria for separation of Azeotropic mixtures/Dilute solutions using salts".
An online visit was organized for 2nd year students of BE Chemical Engineering at Rhythm Biocare plant on 29th November, 2021. Prof. Ronak R. Patel and Mr. Ashish Rathod coordinated the online visit with the students.
A patent has been published by student and faculty of chemical engineering department titled “Biodiesel Preparation Device and Method Using Co doped ZnO Catalysts" on 29/10/2021.
Two students of chemical engineering department, Dhrashti Lheri and Dhruvi Patel completed a 12 weeks online Mitacs Globalink Research Internship.
The UG Course of Chemical Engineering Department has received NBA Accreditation for a period of three years till 30th June, 2024.
An expert lecture on “Challenges in operation of Benzene Hydrogenation Catalyst” by Shri Digant Trivedi, Vice President, Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals (GSFC) was arranged on 28/08/21 by Chemical engineering department for 3rd and 5th semester students
A visit was organized for first year students of ME Chemical Engineering at CETP Narol Textile Infrastructure & Enviro Management plant on 17th Sep, 2021. Narol Textile Infrastructure and Enviro Management 150 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant is one of the largest Common Effluent Treatment Plants in Asia. The unit collects all the wastewater generated by the 125 textile, dyeing and printing units scattered around densely populated residential, commercial and industrial area of Ahmedabad and does primary and secondary treatment of the wastewater. The final treated effluent conforms to the norms set by the Gujarat pollution control Board. The unit has online monitoring facility of the final treated effluent which can be monitored by GPCB. Prof. T. S. Rajaraman coordinated and accompanied the students for the visit.
