The event KIAZEN – 2K19 was celebrated by Instrumentation & Control Engineering Department of the institute with great enthusiasm and support by all faculty members and students. The event was inaugurated with formal welcome and introduction of the juries by the Head of Department, Prof. M. T. Thakker. Total 35 UG group projects of 71 students and 7 individual projects of PG students were on display. The venue was full of students, staff, parents and visitors almost throughout the one and half day. The students were very happy to show case their work to all the visitors. The environment had been very vibrant on that day. Mr. Pradip Panchal, Senior Engineering, Institute for Plasma Research and Mr. Jitendra B. Gajjar, Director of Amee Power Drives had extended their help as juries for the event. Both the judges have taken keen interest in observing each and every project of UG and PG students. The judges were delighted to see the overwhelming response of the students. The project fair – 2019 of Chemical Engineering Department as a part of KAIZEN – 2019 was organized on 11 th& 12th April, 2019. There were 19 groups of B. E. Final Year students and 13 M. E. Final Year students participated in the event. The projects were displayed in the classrooms of Chemical Engineering Department. The projects of the B.E. and M.E. students were displayed in the form of posters supported by the experimental setups, models and laptops. The projects were evaluated by Prof. (Dr.) Jayesh Rupareliya, Professor in Chemical Engineering, Nirma University, Ahmedabad and Shri. Himanshu Sagar, Mott Macdonald, Ahmedabad. Principal Prof. (Dr.) G. P. Vadodaria along with media personnel and other dignitaries visited the project displayed by students. They took great interest in the projects and encouraged the faculties and students to take up more research activity in the department. The students enthusiastically presented their project work to the other dignitaries and students who visited the department throughout the day. The student who visited the event got information about innovation aspects in Chemical engineering field and its importance in today’s context. All the dignitaries and students who were present during the event gave a very positive feedback about the event.
Dr. R. C. Sonpal Memorial lecture was arranged on 7th April’19, under the aegis of IGS-Ahmedabad Chapter. Dignitaries such as Dr. Amit Prashant (Chairman of IGS Ahmedabad Chapter), Mr. Parag Dave (Director of MK Soil laboratory), Dr. S.P.Dave (Honarary Secretary,, IGS A’bad Chapter & Principal, GEC, Gandhingar) had graced the occasion. The key note address was delivered by Mr. A.M Prakash (Head Quality with Larsen & Toubro Ltd).The Motivational speaker of the memorial lecture was Dr.S.R.Gandhi, who is currently the Director at SVNIT,Surat. Sir had delivered an insightful lecture on “Case Studies of Foundation Failure”. The memorial lecture was attended by all the students of B.E & M.E Civil, faculty members from other engineering institutes.
Various industries like AMUL, NETAFIM, CREDENCE, TOSHIBA, HEXAPLAST, MIKU TRADERS etc. approached for placement in the department and many final year students got placed in the same.

Date: 11th –15th March, 2019 Venue: PDV Lab, SIEMENS- Centre of Excellence, Mechanical Dept. The one week long FDP programme provided participants a comprehensive understanding of ‘Computational Methods for Mechanical Engineers using MATLAB’ and conducting scientific programming. The programme was designed to be generic in nature for satisfying the needs of students and faculties, of Mechanical Engineering of various Government Engineering Colleges situated in the state of Gujarat, to increase their programming skills and analysis capabilities.
A visit was organized for first year students of Chemical Engineering at Harsh Organo Chem (I) Pvt. Ltd., Plot No. 2207, Phase-IV, GIDC-Vatva, Ahmedabad, on 13th Mar, 2019. Harsh Organo Chem (I) Pvt Ltd manufactures different types of dye intermediates with special focus on research to remain customer focused. This ISO 9001 : 2000 certified company is a manufacturer of various types of dyes intermediates and their product includes C-acid, European K- acid, Koch's acid, Violet acid, Amido Epsilon acid, Epsilon acid, Sulfo C-acid, Vinyl Sulphone which is used in textile and other industries. The students gained firsthand knowledge of the various unit operations like press, tray drier, spin flash drier etc. and unit process like nitration, sulphonation etc. The unit had various types of reactors and other ancillary units like furnace, boiler, waste water treatment etc. The various stages of effluent reatment were displayed and their operation was explained in detail. Overall, the industry benefited the students providing them practical exposure in the field of dyes intermediate manufacturing with a holistic approach towards environment. Prof. S. M. Dutta and Prof. R. P. Bhatt coordinated and accompanied the students for the visit.
