Environmental Engineering is the integration of sciences and engineering principles to improve the environment, to provide healthy water, air, and land for human habitation and other organisms and to clean up polluted sites. It involves waste water management, air pollution control, recycling, waste disposal, radiation protection, industrial hygiene, environmental sustainability and public health issues as well as the knowledge of environmental engineering laws.

Environment engineers are concerned with work related to Biodiversity, Waste Land Management, Environmental Balance and Protection of Natural Resources. Hence, the environment engineers get lot of opportunities to work in industries associated with environment. They are involved in work concerned with pollution control and waste management. Environment Engineering Department in L.D.C.E includes environmental chemistry, environmental microbiology, physical, chemical and biological treatment, air pollution & control, process design of treatment unit in water and waste water treatment and air pollution, environment impact analysis and environment registration, solid waste management, remote sensing. etc.
