Institute is going to organize Sahitya Sarita 2018 on 23rd and 24th February 2018. Event includes different competitions based on literature for the literati students, expert sessions on modern topics by celebrated faces of Gujarati and Hindi Literature and Musical Concert.
LDCE is constantly working in the fields of social reforms. NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS) UNIT OF L. D. College of Engineering undertakes various activities which have social impact. To provide a platform to all enthusiastic artists, NSS LDCE has undertaken its wall painting competition “RANG AMAIZI” where all the zealous souls of city, state and country are invited to design their artwork for different walls of LD College of Engineering. Rang Amaizi is an innovative concept which sprouted out in the technical brains of the students of NSS Unit of L.D. College of Engineering whose motive was to enhance the beauty of the spoilt walls by organizing a wall painting competition of talented youths. More than 950 Participants have gifted LDCE the best in class paintings last year. All are requested to participate in wall painting competition at LDCE Campus on February 26, 2018.

MHRD sponsored GIAN short term course was organized at Computer Engineering Department of L. D. College of Engineering, Ahmedabad. This was the second consecutive time that a course from computer engineering department was sanctioned by the GIAN cell at IIT-Kharagpur. The inauguration took place on 06th February 2018 in the auspicious presence of foreign faculty, the Principal of the institute, local GIAN coordinator and course coordinator. The course content was designed by the foreign faculty which had to be covered in 14 theory sessions and 04 practice/hands on sessions. Dr. Arun Somani talked about basic concepts, reliability evaluation and redundancy management in morning session on day-1. The afternoon session contained issues in TMR design and consistency analysis followed by the case study and problem set-1. Dr. Somani discussed information redundancy in both the sessions on day-2 along with the case studies and problems. On day-3 he covered topics like software fault tolerance, check pointing, rollback recovery protocols and system level diagnosis followed by the case studies and problems. He talked about evaluation of systems and efficient protection architectures on day-4 in both sessions. He discussed examples and problems of RTOS during the case study session. Dr. Somani concluded the course by discussing RAKSHA and BTWC design on last day of course in the morning session. Valedictory function was organized after lunch break in the presence of the Principal of the institute. Dr. Arun K. Somani was felicitated with a token of memento by the Principal. Participants from research lab (ISRO), faculty members of other institutes and research students gave their feedback about the entire course during the function. Certificates were distributed to the participants of the course at the end of the function.
An expert lecture on "Unleash the unlimited power of mind" was arranged on 19-02-2018 for the 6th and 8th semester students of the department. Speaker of the lecture was Mr Dinesh Jasani. He talked about various key notes like working of the mind, thought processing, subconscious mind, how to use it, how it can benefit etc. Mr Jasani cited few examples about how our mind responds to the thoughts and also said that mind cannot differentiate between good or bad thought. He encouraged students to always have positive thoughts so subconscious mind can think in positive way. Repetitive thought process helps to make that thought to become real, as per Mr Dasani. He discussed about few tricks by which students can utilize their power of mind. He also asked students to use their power of thoughts as creative power. He said that power of subconscious mind can help students for their future life and stated numerous other benefits of the same.
Expert lecture titled "Recent advances in safety and hazards management in chemical engineering field and ndustries" was organized by the chemical engineering department on 17-02-2018 for the students of the department. Mr MN Vyas, Ex officio of IPCL, delivered the lecture. Major audience was the students of the 6th semester as the content was a part of their subject-Pollution control health management. Mr Vyas explained about the safety and its importance in any industry. He also discussed about the various measures of safety, accidents and its prevention, industrial hazards etc. He talked about the recent advances in safety and how these techniques.
A technical site visit to Surat was arranged for ME ( Structures + Geo-technical) on 15th & 16th Feb’18. The purpose of the visit was to have an insight into the construction of all the major high end projects such as Statue of Unity, Sardar Sarovar Dam and Ukai Dam Site. The highlights of the site visit were the construction of the Core element of the Statue of Unity which is about 157 m high, Routine Inspection Gallery & Gates of the Sardar Sarovar dam site, Pressure regulator unit and Infiltration gallery at Ukai Dam site and Construction of Cable stayed bridge at Surat. A total number of 55 students along with faculty members Prof. B.J.Panchal, Prof.U.K.Patel, Prof.MV.Shah, Prof.C.D.Patel, Prof.B.R.Patel, Prof. S.R.Singh and Prof. Nehal Bhavsar had made the visit with prior permission from the concerning agency.
