Report on Events of ISTE by Computer Engineering Department on 29-30 January-2019
An expert talk on “Innovations in Concrete” was arranged on 7.2.19, for the students of B.E. Civil (Sem IV). The talk was delivered Mr.Birjeet Kumar (Marketing Manager of RMC Pvt Ltd) – a division of Prism Cement. The lecture was informative as it helped the students to know about all the latest types of innovation in material of concrete along with its relevant applications.
A visit was organized for second year students of Chemical Engineering at Facilitation Centre for Industrial Plasma Technologies (FCIPT). FCIPT was setup in 1997 to promote the commercial exploitation of plasma technologies through development, incubation, demonstration, manufacturing and transfer. The centre has process development and instrumentation laboratories, job shop, material characterization and manufacturing facilities. The visit helped the students to understand plasma science and the various applications of plasma technology. One of the interesting area was plasma pyrolysis which is used in biomedical waste disposal, safe disposal of organic wastes like plastic, cotton and paper and energy recovery from disposal of high calorific wastes. The visit gave an insight about the contributions chemical engineers can make in this technology. Prof. S. M. Dutta oordinated the visit. Prof. Ruperi Rupal and Prof. Vandana Gojiya accompanied the students for the visit.
A visit was organized for second year students of Chemical Engineering at Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), Bhatt, Gandhinagar. IPR is an autonomous institute under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Govt. of India. It is exclusively devoted to basic research in plasma sciences and development of technological applications. This institute is largely involved in theoretical and experimental studies in plasma science including basic plasma physics, magnetically confined hot plasmas and plasma technologies for industrial application. The major thrust is in magnetic confinement fusion and plasma assisted material processing. The institute owns two operational tokamaks (a machine for controlling thermonuclear fusion) - ADITYA and Steady State Tokamak (SST) - 1. Dr. K. K. Mohandas showed the various facilities in the campus alongwith the working of tokamaks. Prof. S. M. Dutta oordinated the visit. Prof. Ruperi Rupal and Prof. Vandana Gojiya accompanied the students for the visit.
