Students of B.E. Civil Sem VI named Tarang Patel, Sneh Bhavsar, Preet Vasava and Ritu Barad under the mentorship of Prof.C.D.Patel, were declared winner in “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Hackathon 2022” and awarded 1st Position and prize money of Rs.50,000/- for their project entitled “Pre-monsoon and Post Monsoon Inspection of Bridge.
Aditya Pal, passed out student of Batch 2022, was awarded Gold Medal by GICEA on 11.2.2023 for his excellent performance in subject Repairs and Rehabilitation of Concrete Structures.
A technical Tour to the "Precast Manufacturing Plant" at Sanand Makol, was organized for BE SemVII students as a part of their curriculum activity. A total of 43 students along with 3 faculty members had joined the tour. Tour was exclusively arranged for the students who had opted for the Elective of "Precast Construction". The technical tour was appreciated by the students as it helped the students to get familiar with the precast manufacturing,lifting,stacking and transportation processes. Prof.P.J.Mehta, Prof.A.G.Hansora and Prof.Poonam I. Modi had coordinated the entire tour.
An essay competition on “GREEN BUILDING” was organised by the department under the aegis of the Climate Change Youth Outreach Program, LAA Alumni Association, and 75th year celebration of LDCE. The competition was arranged on 22nd September 2022 Thursday in Visveswaraya Hall in room no.626 at 11:00 am. All UG students have participated in the competition. And Three students of BE Sem-I Civil were shortlisted for certification. 1st Prize was bagged by Mirza Mominkhan Mirza, 2nd and 3rd prize was awarded to Deep Rakholiya and Ayushi Hitesh Lathiya respectively.
8 teams from department had partcipated in the Technical Quiz organized by Knowledge Studio. The quiz was conducted in 3 rounds. 6 teams of Civil Engg department were shortlisted after the Elimination Round. 2 of the Winners teams in the top 3 are from Civil department. The Winner team comprised of 2 PG students Darshil Satnami and Ajay (currently pursuing M.E. Structural Engineering, Sem- III) bagged a prize money of Rs.21,000/- and trophy on 17.9.22. The 1st Runner up team was also from LDCE. The team comprised of students of B.E. Sem VII (Civil), Maulik Chotlaiya and Rohit Chariya. The runner up team got a prize money of Rs,12000/-. Prof.Poonam I. Modi was the co-ordinator and mentor for the quiz. Prof.Poonam I. Modi liasioned with Knowledge studio for this event.
An Expert talk on ‘Case-Studies of repair and Strengthening of RCC Structures” was organized by department under the aegis of 75 years of celebration of L.D.College of Engineering. The Expert talk was arranged on 25th August’2022, Thursday for a duration of 2 hrs at 11.00 a.m in Room No 626 of Applied Mechanics department block 6.The talk was attended by all the Under graduate & Post graduate students of Civil Engineering and its faculty members.The Resource Persons for the Expert Talk were: Mr.Shailesh Sonar (Director, M/s Radhe Structo-repair Pvt. Ltd. Ahmedabad) and Mr.Aayush Upadhyay ( Consultant, M/s Radhe Structo-repair Pvt. Ltd. Ahmedabad). Prof.M.G.Vanza and Prof.Poonam I. Modi had coordinated the entire talk.

College of Engineering in coordination with GEC Modasa successfully organized 5-Days (One Week) Inter-disciplinary Short term Online Training Programme (STTP) On “Disaster Management and Resilience Building” from 1st August to 5th August 2022. Eminent Speakers were, Dr. Surya Prakash Gupta(NIDM), Dr. C.V.R.Murty(IITM), Dr. P.K.Garg(IITR), Dr. Hemant B. Kaushik(IIT Guwahati), Dr. Arindam Dey(IIT Guwahati), Dr. P.K.Joshi (JNU), Dr. S.M.Yadav (SVNIT), Prof. Manorama Mohanty(IMD), Dr. V.M.Patel(UVPCE), Dr. Kamlesh Upadhyay(Dean Civil Hospital Ahmedabad), Dr. Santosh Kumar (ISR), Dr. C.S.Sanghvi(GECM), Dr. Repaul Kanji(GIDM), Mr. Himalay Kotadiya(GIDM). Shri. P.K.Taneja, Director General, Gujarat Institute of Disaster Mangement has graced the Valedictory function as Chief Guest. Dimsoln Techology LLP is engaed in promoting of foundation design software, research, design and development consultancy in field of structural engineering and geotechnical enginering. As a part of the Platinum Jubilee Celebration of L.D.College of Engineering, an event entitled “Safar – Journey to Success” was organized on 21stJune’2022. The event was jointly organized by Civil engg and Applied Mechanics department. The illustrious alumni who were invited for sharing their Success journey included Mr.Rakesh Mehta ( Managing Director, Saunrachna Structon Pvt. Ltd), Mr.Jayesh Gandhi ( Chief Engineer, R&B dept, GoG), Mr.Jignesh Gandhi ( Managing Director, CASAD consultants Pvt. Ltd.) & Mr.Vijay Shah (Real Estate Developers, M/S Vijay Shah). All the invited Alumni shared their experience of having studied at their Alma-mater. They shared their journey of growth and perseverance with students and faculty members of both the departments. The stalwarts motivated students to feel proud of this Profession of Civil Engineering and also taught them important tenets of life such as Clear and sound concepts, Hard work, Zeal, Courage, Determination & effective Communication skills as attributes to be embraced to grow in life.
The department of Applied Mechanics of L.D. College of Engineering successfully organized 5-Days (One Week) Online Short Term Training Programme (STTP) On “Design of Confined Masonry Buildings for Earthquake Disaster Risk Mitigation in India” under the aegis of Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) Scheduled from 6th June to 10th June 2022. The training was approved by DTE and Sponsored by GIAN. Dr Svetlana Brzev, Professor at British Columbia University, Canada delivered Session as an expert foreign faculty besides other speakers. The training first of its kind under the banner of GIAN was well attended by about more than 200 number of participants. The Inaugural session was graced by presence of Principal Madam Dr.Rajul K. Gajjar and Dr.M.C.Chudasama was present in the Inaugural session as the Institute Coordinator for GIAN initiative. The valedictory session was chaired by Dr.B.J.Shah ( Principal, GEC, Modasa). The entire STTP was well coordinated by Prof.Ashwin G.Hansora and Prof.C.D.Patel under the able guidance of the Convener of the STTP Major.Dr.C.S.Sanghvi ( HoD, Applied Mechanics Dept, GEC Modasa).
