The Department of Civil Engineering, L. D. College of Engineering organized an expert lecture on “Road Safety Awareness” on 10th January 2025. The session aimed at sensitizing young engineers about the importance of traffic rules, safety measures, and sustainable transport practices to minimize road accidents and enhance public safety. The lecture was delivered by Shri Shaheriar B. Zaveri, Retired Assistant RTO, Consultant (Road Safety), and Member of the Gujarat Road Safety Authority. Drawing from his rich professional experience, Shri Zaveri highlighted key aspects of traffic management, accident prevention strategies, and the role of civil engineers in designing safe and efficient road networks. The event was further graced by the presence of Shri J. J. Patel, Regional Transport Officer, and Shri C. I. Mahera, Inspector of Motor Vehicles, who shared valuable insights on traffic regulations, enforcement mechanisms, and government initiatives in promoting road safety. The program was coordinated under the guidance of Dr. R. N. Shukla and Dr. Z. R. Chhayya, who ensured active engagement of students and smooth conduct of the session. A total of 135 students participated enthusiastically, benefitting from expert discussions and gaining awareness about their role as responsible citizens and future engineers in promoting road safety culture. The lecture proved to be a highly informative and impactful initiative, aligning with the institute’s vision of fostering socially responsible engineering professionals.
• Prof. Bharati Basantani was invited to visit Lumax industries at Sanand. She visited the company on 10-1-2025 and had discussion with the HR team regarding industrial visit, internship and placement for the students

• The Plastic Technology Department had 2 very senior Alumini who visited the Department during Global Alumni Convention on 4th January 2025 at LDCE. DR. Mamta Saiyad: Associate Professor Chemical Engineering, Nirma Institute of Technology, who has made a mark in development of light weight astronaut suits along with NASA. • And another Alumni of 2006 batch, Ms. Colina Dutta , who ventured into Medicine field after B.E. Plastic Technology by doing her Phd at Michigan State University, USA. She is currently developing Oncological drugs at a well-known Pharmaceutical company in Mumbai. • Both the Alumini shared their journey with the students and inspired them.
